A small tool for preparing model context

Prompt Context Provenance Ledger

Before a saved snippet becomes part of a model prompt, check what it came from and what it is allowed to support. This metadata worksheet makes missing evidence visible. It does not evaluate a model, verify a source, or decide whether a claim is true.

All examples are synthetic. This page runs locally in your browser: no model calls, uploads, analytics, storage, or clipboard access. Keep private snippet contents out of this form.

1. Record the context boundary

A reference you can reopen. This tool never requests the URL.

Leave blank until you actually review the source. A copy timestamp is a different event.

2. Prepare the next review

No snippet text is included. Copy or save this note using your browser's normal controls if useful.

    What this state means

“Ready for human review” means these metadata fields are complete, not that the text is accurate, safe, licensed, or suitable for a model. A reviewer still needs to open the source, inspect the exact excerpt and its limits, and check the receiving system's data policy.

Retained copies are inputs, not evidence of freshness

A clipboard history can help you find a copy again. It cannot establish whether the source has changed or whether an excerpt may be sent to an external service. Deskferry retains encrypted history locally on each Mac; this worksheet is a separate review method and is not a Deskferry feature.

For the underlying retrieval workflow, see retained clipboard history on a Mac. For the broader workflow, see the Mac clipboard manager guide.

Carry the evidence into the next document

Use the citation-first research draft when an excerpt will support a written claim: it maps each claim to an attribution card. Use the research-note link audit to check whether the visible title still points to the intended source. If the source changed, follow the stale-instruction retirement guide before reusing the old steps in a prompt.

These are separate public reading resources. Opening one leaves this tool; the worksheet itself does not send your field values to them.
